Think of a world without the Deviantart we all know and love...that's the Notice and Staydown in a nutshell. If the Notice and staydown is made into a law, it would force websites to use something like Youtube's comment ID system. Bigger websites would at least be lucky enough to still be on the web, albeit with some changes including entire categories of content being dropped. And the smaller ones? They wouldn't even exist anymore!
If you want more info about it, look here: flamewarflipsides.deviantart.c… (thanks to flamewarflipsides for letting me know about this). Oh and if you don't live in America, don't worry. SchnuffelKuschel left a link for that petition too...but, I'll put it here so you won't need to keep scrolling through comments to find it. www.avaaz.org/de/stop_the_corp…
I need each and every one of you reading this Journal to sign the petition. Oh and another thing...SPREAD THE WORD!!
I don't care what it takes to get people to sign this petition, just get others to sign it too! We've got at deadline to meet, and this time around we don't have all year! And seeing how quickly time can pass by, there's not much time left.

Death Road to Canada Mini Review thing!
First things first is the Tutorial. It's nice and simple, if you're like me and feel the need to retake it everytime ya boot up the game because you're worried you'll forget the controls midgame, when ya get to "Unlocks" (second option on the main menu), go to the house on the right and talk to the Scientist.
Anyways, when ya finish the tutorial (I'm too lazy to explain the controls), one thing you might notice is the "Custom Characters" option, but for now, we'll get through the game first...or as much of it as I can. See, DR2C combines a Zombie Apocalypse with some of the ideas of a roguelike (such as an inventory system and, most notably
A Midwinter Evening's Rant
I meant to post this a while back....but here we are.
A bit earlier this semester in class we watched a Midsummer Night's Dream. For everything it does right, it also screws up quite a bit.
Here are some of my opinions.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play written by William Shakespeare in 1595. According to many it is supposedly a comedy. This is supported by a few scenes, such as the “play within a play” where an actor is pretending to be a wall due to a lack of one prepared prior to the performance, and there is a point where one of the characters in the acting troupe is named “Bottom”. I understand that it
21st Birthday!
So, today's my 21st birthday! :D
So what's going on? Well...
I don't have a car.I don't have my licence yet.I don't have a girlfriend.
Acid reflux continues to be a nusiance
Things could, admittedly, be better...but I'm alive.
I could drink (and I certainly have reason to), but I won't
"Why won't I drink alcohol?" you say? Well...
It's f**king expensiveI already wake up with headachesI already feel nauseated (Acid reflux is a pain)I've already proven to have the ability to do and say stupid things without being under the influence of alchoholDrinking can ruin lives, if it doesn't end them
All in all, I've gotten this far, so that's go
Choice Of Robots Game review.
Meant to post this a while back. Just a small review of a game I played called Choice of Robots.
SPOILER WARNING!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
You can make a robot with a arm cannon like Megaman! :D
Where was I? Oh, the review.
It's a great game, and if you enter your actual name as the protagonist's, it feels more real. There are funny moments ("Why am I dreaming in political cartoons?") and serious ones (Such as choosing whether or not to get surgery to remove a genetic desease, at the cost of the Charcter's emotions) but it all flows together very well. There's a stats screen as well, and some stats influence later decisions. There's the fa

I am so sorry to break this from you, but aside from linking the better U.S.-based petition, this entire journal entry is basically wrong.
SOPA is NOT back. A few particular ideas or procedures from it are back, but they have other names. Talking about "SOPA" without talking about the new names of it is actually really harmful, because you know legislators are going to play dumb and be like "no, no, SOPA isn't back." We have to call them by their right names in efforts to stop them, or people can pretend they don't know what we're talking about.l
And the wouldn't DO what you're talking about, either. Fanfiction and fanart would not become more illegal than they already are in most places, and even if they are, it'd still be hard to charge people for it. The real thing that the Trans-Pacific Partnership and Notice and Staydown would do would be to make it hard for sites to operate at all.
Notice and Staydown, if implemented as a LAW, would force companies to use something like Youtube's content ID system. That took millions of dollars for Google to develop, and every other site would either have to pay to use existing systems, or spend similar money developing their own. Smaller sites would be forced to close. Larger sites would see the way they handle user submissions change dramatically, possibly with whole categories of content being dropped. But some of the sites we use would still stay up, and fanfiction would be unlikely to be effected, as would still fanart.
So SOPA isn't back, and the SOPA-like things that aren't back wouldn't be quite as bad as this journal says.
If you'd like more information, I did a lengthy blog explaining how these work, with plenty of links to sources:

SOPA 2014: Voluntary Agreements, TPP, and StaydownEDIT 3/17: Added some links, some additional notes, and some credit.
Important Note:
if you saw this in draft form before 6 P.M. EDT on March 14th, you didn't see the THIRD attempt to enforce SOPA-esque provisions OR the accurate petition. I added it it then.

A few days ago, I started seeing journals once again ranting about how SOPA is going to take away our fandom, or even our original content, in my feed here on deviantART. I did a search for reputable sources talking about it, and found just enough to be worth discussing, but not enough to justify the panic that's happened. I vowed I would do a journal about it come the weekend.
Since then, it's blown up. I've had numerous new faves on my old write-up of SOPA 201, despite it having "2013
